And suddenly it all happens very quickly. Originally, I wanted to stay in Switzerland from 16.12.2020-30.12.2020. Due to the quarantine measures at the Icelandic border, I decided to change the dates to 13.12.2020 – 10.01.2021. Then, because the situation worsened, I changed the dates to 03.12.2020 – 10.01.2021. And because my flight on 03.12.2020 got canceled, I’ll now return to Switzerland on the 27.11.2020. Well, we will see about that – flights do tend to get canceled almost last minute these days, but I’m keeping my hopes up here.
I feel a bit ambiguous about it. Of course, I’m so happy to finally see all my closest friends and family, especially my girlfriend, again so soon and so long. But on the other hand, I’m a bit disappointed about the fact that I’ll miss a big part of the Icelandic winter; something, I looked forward to experiencing. And to be honest, I’m starting to feel home not just in Switzerland, but also here in Iceland. It feels kind of weird to leave, actually.
But in the end, it just felt right to go back home now and not risk getting stuck here during the holidays. So to everybody who reads this back in Switzerland: let’s meet up! I have plenty of free time, especially from 28.11. – 15.12. and from 03.01. – 09.01. I’m looking forward to seeing you all 🙂
